Description

Begin your adventure with a scenic drive from Punta Cana, followed by a sail down the tranquil waters of the Caño Hondo stream, home to the Caribbean’s largest mangrove forest. Skim past lush banks and spot native wildlife bursting from the brush. Disembark to explore Los Haitises on foot. Trek across a unique karst landscape of limestone mogotes, sinkholes, and sun-dappled caverns. Discover Taino heritage at caves adorned with petroglyphs and pictograms, and encounter nocturnal caves with bats and indigenous carvings. Next, cruise out to San Lorenzo Bay and Cayo de los Pájaros, bird-rich islets between Boca del Infierno and El Naranjo Arriba, where pelicans and frigatebirds soar overhead. Your guide will teach you about cupey, almond, and banyan trees and highlight native crustaceans, fish, and birdlife flourishing in the park. Recharge with a traditional Dominican lunch at the eco-conscious Hotel Paraíso Caño Hondo, nestled at the foot of Montaña Redonda. Cool off with a refreshing swim in natural pools fed by crystal-clear river water. After lunch, board a safari jeep to ascend Montaña Redonda, stopping between Laguna Limón and Laguna Redonda. At the summit, sweep your gaze across jungle canopy, Samaná Bay, the Cordillera Oriental, and glimpses of the Atlantic. Finally, relax during the return journey and arrive back in Punta Cana between 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm.
