Description

The tour includes some sights from the region, such as the beautiful Playa Macao beach, which is lined with rocks. Here we can swim, take photos or go for a walk. We continue through the villages to Anamuya, where we visit a typical Dominican house and get to know the family living there, authentic Dominican life and the diverse tropical plants that grow here. There is a lot to see here, such as cinnamon, vanilla, pineapple, coffee, cocoa and various types of banana. Experience the processing of coffee and cocoa up close and, of course, you are also welcome to taste them. The small farm also sells some of its own organic products, which the family uses to earn a living for themselves and their children (there is no obligation to buy). After a short stop at the Anamuya waterfall, we continue along the picturesque country road, surrounded by green hills and palm trees, with little traffic, to Higüey, the capital of our province, where we visit the architecturally impressive Cathedral de la Virgen de la Altagracia and, if desired, the colorful and not entirely hygienic, yet impressive town market of Higüey. We then drive to the Caribbean coast to Bayahibe, where you can enjoy a wonderful swim and snorkeling from the beach if you wish. We can have lunch in the stylish Tracadero Beach Club or enjoy a packed lunch that you take from the hotel (put together yourself) directly on the beach. The food is on your own account, so everyone can order whatever they fancy. If you wish, we can even stay in Bayahibe until sunset, as the sun sets into the sea and the viewing platform provides a fantastic backdrop for romantic photos (weather permitting). If you wish, we can also make a stopover to do some shopping in a supermarket if you still need things to take back to Germany, or visit a cigar factory or a souvenir store - I'll do as you wish! We will be traveling in an SUV (Toyota RAV4), which offers space for a maximum of 4 people plus driver. We would leave right after breakfast (8:30 am) and be back around 6 pm or 8 pm. This 'country & people' tour not only gives you the opportunity to get to know real Dominican life, but also the Caribbean side of the island, the subtle differences between the Atlantic coast and the Caribbean coast, which can be very helpful when booking future vacations.
