The Dominican Republic is located on the Caribbean Island of Hispaniola, which it shares with Haiti. Hispaniola is the second largest island in the Archipelago of the Antilles, lying west of Puerto Rico and the east of Cuba and Jamaica. It is bathed by the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea and the gentle currents of the Atlantic.
