Huracan Cafe
Dominicanrepublic
On April 25, 1997 three Italians - Giacomo Zatti, a former basketball player, Claudio Riggio, a lawyer, and Luciano Marangon, a former soccer player for several Italian soccer Serie A teams - decided to open a restaurant in the Dominican Republic. Their first restaurant called Big Sur Café was opened in Formentera in Spain. This was followed by a second restaurant, also called the Big Sur Café, that they created at Punta Cana. After the destruction caused by Hurricane Georges in September of 1998, Luciano returned to Italy and Piero Montecchi was added to the company.
With beautiful baroque décor that is unique to the Dominican Republic, the newly renovated restaurant called Huracan Cafe opened on December 16, 1998.
Located in the Bavaro-Punta Cana area, Huracan Cafe is one of the best places in the Dominican Republic to enjoy traditional Italian cuisine and international music. The restaurant boasts a huge library of international music with more than 1,000 sound recordings. Typical dishes include such things as Huracan Fettucini, Penne Vodka and Seafood, Mozzarella in Carrozza, Tagliata Arugula and Parmesan, and Crepe of Shrimps with Grand Marniér. There is also an extensive wine list with many great Italian wines such as Pinot Grigio and Chianti.
With its fantastic beachfront location, Huracan Cafe offers not only great cuisine, but also delicious Caribbean cocktails. At night the dining experience at Huracan Café becomes magical with the sound of the sea in the background and with the light of the full moon. Here excellent grilled meat and fresh fish can be enjoyed by candlelight on the beach, accompanied by live music and the best national and international DJs.
Huracan Cafe is also the place to enjoy all kinds of national and international sports events.
In recent years, thanks to the experience that Giacomo Zatti has gained locally, Huracan Cafe now offers services to help guests celebrate events such as weddings or corporate events. Everything is done with all of the usual professionalism that has made Huracan Cafe what it is today.
